Nettlecombe Parish Council

Nettlecombe Court is a Tudor/Georgian country mansion located in a secluded valley on the edge of Exmoor National Park.The estate is within the civil parish of Nettlecombe, named after the house, and is approximately 3.6 miles (5.8 km) from the village of Williton, in Somerset.

St Marys Church Nettlecombe dates back to the 13th century. In 1440 the church was dedicated to St Mary the Virgin and was restored c1820, 1858 and 1870. The interior contains some very interesting tombs, memorials, a fine pulpit and a beautifully carved rare seven sacrament font.

The Nettlecombe Community consists of several Hamlets, Villages and Churches which include Torre, Yarde, Woodford, Chidgley, Vempletts Cross, Fair Cross and Beggearn Huish.

The Nettlecombe Court is  situated within Parish of Nettlecombe and is surrounded by 60 hectares (150 acres) of estate parkland,  all of which are nestled in the Brendon Hills and the surrounding areas.

Most amenities for the community can be found in the neighbouring villages of Williton and Watchet.  They consist of several small shops Including  Farm shops, Small Supermarkets, Post Offices, Petrol Stations,  and also a Library.

Washford Post Office/Shop and banking facility has recently reopened under New Management and is now run by Neal and his wife Caroline.
